Shirley Mae Thornton Stallings, age 76, passed away in the early morning of Wednesday, March 27th at her residence. Born in Sampson County, she was the daughter of the late Thaddeus Lee Thornton and Eva Mae Hudson Thornton. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Elsie Lee and brothers, Billy Thornton and Bobby Thornton. Shirley was a member of Black Jack Grove Free Will Baptist Church and attended Faro Chapel Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church. She was very active and dedicated to helping with the Operation Christmas Child at Stoney Creek Free Will Baptist.

A service to celebrate her life will be held on Monday, April 1st at 2:00 pm at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Don Sauls and Pastor Dennis Pollock officiating. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park with Pastor Drew Hill doing the committal. The family will greet friends Monday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Shirley is survived by her husband, William Stallings, a son, Billy Stallings and his wife, Denise; a daughter, Stephanie Stallings and her fiancé Scott Gurley; her sisters, Lynda Hinson and Sheila Jenkins; her brother, Danny Thornton; four grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
