Burlington Opens Doors, Makes Donation to Meadow Lane

Berkeley Mall’s newest tenant Burlington Stores officially opened its doors on Friday morning, while also demonstrating its commitment to the community and education.

During a ribbon cutting to officially open the store, Burlington presented Meadow Lane Elementary, and principal Ashley Radford, with a check for $5,000.

Burlington has a long-standing partnership with the national non-profit organization AdoptAClassroom.org

“Burlington is very big on giving back to the community and a lot of non-profit organizations,” said store manager Chad Tucker. “We definitely try our best to invest in the future, so I think we chose elementary schools because obviously there’s no better way than to start with the kids. We chose Meadow Lane because they’re right down the street and we try to stay within our radius.”

Radford and her staff found out roughly three weeks ago that Meadow Lane would be receiving the funds from Burlington. The news was met with excitement and eagerness to purchase some much-needed classroom materials.

“This will be a great support for all of our children,” Radford said. “We have 58 homeroom classrooms and this will go directly towards our students. Some of our teachers are looking forward to buying STEM materials, some are early literacy-focused, some are focused on math, and some are just focused on students that need materials.”

Burlington Stores, Inc., a national discount retailer offering low prices every day on brand name merchandise for the entire family and home.

With up to 60% off other retailers’ prices every day on brand-name merchandise arriving regularly, customers will discover something new every time they shop.

The new store brings the total number of stores in the state to 30, and they continue to expand their footprint. With more than 1000 stores open nationwide at the end of 2023, Burlington offers customers deals on quality top brands and the chance to find something new every time they shop.

“I hope to provide jobs first off,” said Tucker. “We want to try to get people jobs, maybe their first job. Burlington is hoping to open 100 stores every year for the next 10 years, so even if someone doesn’t stay at my store we can get people trained up, and then maybe have them transfer to other stores. The other part is trying to give the community another place to shop that cares about the customer, and makes them feel appreciated and welcomed every day.”
