Edd Leamon Suggs, Jr. passed away at Wayne UNC Healthcare on Sunday, March 24, 2024. He was born in La Grange to the late Edd Leamon Suggs, Sr., and Bertha Mae Jernigan Suggs on October 31, 1935. In addition to his parents, Leamon was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Dorothy Aldridge Suggs; sister, Ruth Cox; and brother, Parrott Suggs.

Leamon graduated from La Grange High School in 1954. During his senior year, he was a Lenoir County Nominee for a Morehead Scholarship at UNC. In 1958, he graduated from Atlantic Christian College with an AB degree in Mathematics and Social Studies. He attended Duke University in 1960 on a National Science Foundation grant to study mathematics. He graduated from East Carolina University with a Master of Arts degree in Education Administration. He served Lenoir County Schools for 39 years as a teacher and administrator. He was the last of the original faculty members to retire at North Lenoir High School, retiring in 1996 as assistant principal. He served at Lenoir Community College for 35 years as a part-time math instructor. He touched the lives of many in all walks of life.

A service of love and remembrance will be held at Rouse Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at 2 p.m. Committal will follow at Fairview Cemetery in La Grange. Family will greet friends in the hour before the service.

Leamon is survived by his children, Edd Leamon Suggs, III (Julie) and Lisa Suggs MacQueen (Kevin); grandchildren, James Edward Frost, Jr., Heather Wilson, Brittney Rogers, and Robbie Morawski; four great-grandchildren; and sister, Olia Lee Sugg.
