March 14, 2024, 69, Goldsboro —
Kevin Bennett Connolly, 69, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, March 14, 2024, surrounded by his family. Born in Plainfield, New Jersey on October 4, 1954, he was the son of the late Dr. Joseph Anthony Connolly and Jean Ann Bennett Connolly.
In addition to his parents, Kevin is preceded in death by his beloved nephew, Paul Joseph Pfenning.
Kevin fought courageously over the past year throughout his battle with cancer. Although at times it was difficult for him, he continued to light up his family’s world with his clever wit and contagious smile.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Nancy Hemenway Connolly of the home; daughters, Kathleen Skinner and husband, Jeremy, Margaret Connolly and wife, Elizabeth, and Bryce Custer and husband, Richard; grandchildren, Ember Custer, Sayre Custer, and Case Skinner; sisters, Janis McCulloch, Patricia Sikorski, and Maureen Connolly. Kevin is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews whom he loved dearly.
For over thirty years, Kevin worked loyally for the United States Postal Service. He started out his career as a mail carrier and later worked his way up to supervisor until he retired in 2019. Kevin was an avid sports fan. He loved watching basketball, even having played in college. His passion was snow skiing and could oftentimes be seen going down the ski slopes with a big grin on his face. Kevin also had a love for golf. Upon his retirement from the Postal Service, Kevin worked part-time at Lane Tree Golf Course and played as often as he could. He loved sharing his love for sports with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Kevin’s greatest joy in his life was his family. His love for them was fierce and knew no bounds. Each moment spent together with his family was a memory he cherished forever. Some of his favorite memories were those with his daughters. When his grandchildren were born, they became the apples of his eye. Kevin will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, and Papa.
The family will gather for a celebration of Kevin’s life on Friday, March 22, 2024, from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home.
