October 31, 1931 – March 11, 2024

Winnie Parks Mathews, 92, peacefully transitioned to her Heavenly home on Monday, March 11, 2024. She was born in Wayne County to the late John W. Parks and Bertha Snow Parks on October 31, 1931. In addition to her parents, Winnie was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas H. Mathews, and sisters, Mollie Taber, Margaret Daniels, and Linda Marie Parks.

Winnie worked for over ten years as a library assistant at the Clayton Public Library. With a spark of creativity, Winnie was known for her work as a seamstress and the detailed crafts she created. Through a delicate and tedious process, she would turn greeting cards into beautiful baskets.

Winnie was a dedicated member of Bethel Fellowship Church. She dearly loved and appreciated her church family.

A service of love and remembrance will be held by the graveside at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 15, 2024, at Wayne Memorial Park in Goldsboro.

Winnie is survived by her son, Wesley Mathews (Megan Steele); grandchildren, Aurora Hope Stanley (Zachary) and Lee Mayo; great-granddaughter, Adeline Stanley; and step-granddaughter, Tessa Steele.
