Wayne County Residents Make Voices Heard at Polls

In Tuesday’s primary election, Wayne County residents made their voices heard in four local races.

According to the unofficial results released by the Wayne County Board of Elections, in the Wayne County Board of Commissioners District 2 Democratic race Antonio Williams received 64.83% of the vote. Tondalaya Clark received 35.17% of the vote.

Williams advances to face Steve Wiggins in November’s general election.

In the Wayne County Board of Commissioners District 4 Republican race Tim Harrell collected 77.88% of the vote, while Freeman Hardison Jr. collected 22.12% of the vote.

Joe Daughtry received 52.99% of the vote in the Wayne County Board of Commissioners District 6 Republican Race. Earl Craig Uzzell Jr. received 47.01 percent of the vote.

In the Wayne County School Board District 3 election, Bridgette Cowan received 54.70% of the vote, while Richard Taylor collected 32.12% of the vote. Alex Asbun earned 13.18% of the vote.

Cowan and Taylor both advanced to November’s general election.

Only 22.49% or 16,769 of 74,555 registered voters in Wayne County participated in the primary election.
