Sally Edwards Watson

Sally Edwards Watson

March 1, 2024, 96, Kenly —

Sally Edwards Watson, age 96, of Kenly, passed away on Friday, March 1, 2024, surrounded by her family. She was the daughter of the late Jim and Lillie Edwards, sister of Esther Shirley, Clarence Edwards, and Ruth Edwards, and the wife of William Allen Watson, Sr (Bill) who was the love of her life.

Sally is survived by five children; Connie Watson, Deborah Watson, Bill Watson, Jr. and wife, Georgia, Teresa Watson, and Barbara Price and husband Jerry, nine grandchildren, and eighteen great-grandchildren with one due in September.

Sally loved her family most of all. She loved each with their individual strengths and weaknesses. Sally enjoyed a blissful twenty-four years of marriage and raising their five children until Bill died suddenly in 1975. Widowed and the age of 47, Sally rose to the challenge of providing for her family alone. She was a hard-working woman and her work ethic was a trait she instilled in her children. She unselfishly held many jobs to make sure the family’s needs and wants were met. She worked at Kenly Manufacturing from 1964-1988, and Devil Dog Manufacturing after that from 1988-2012.

An excellent seamstress, Sally retired at the age of 82. After retirement, she continued to sew and made alterations for many people. She was a very talented cook and preparing meals for her family brought her tremendous joy. Sally loved going to Kennels Beach, fresh flowers, traveling, sitting in her kitchen, and watching birds. She loved her town and people in general.

The family will receive visitors at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at Kenly Funeral Service with services following in the chapel at 3 p.m. Burial will be held at Kenly Cemetery following the service.
