Anthony D. Scrufari, 78, passed away on Wednesday, February 28, 2024. Tony was born in Niagara Falls, NY to the late Peter and Frances Scrufari on June 26, 1945. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Cameron Paul Scrufari, and brother, Pat Scrufari.

Tony lived his dream proudly serving as a Flight Simulator Technician in the United States Air Force. Tony will always be remembered for his incredible intelligence, his wonderful sense of humor, and his patriotism. Tony’s valor and skill were recognized with numerous decorations during his 20 years of service.

A man of strong faith, Tony worshiped at St. Mary Catholic Parish and was a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus.

Family was always Tony’s priority. He and Elaine shared nearly 57 years of marriage together. Tony’s children were his heartbeat, but his grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the apples of his eye.

The family will receive friends on Friday, March 1, 2024, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 2, 2024, at St. Mary Catholic Parish with Fr. Roch T. Drozdzik presiding. Inurnment with full military honors will be at 12:00 noon on Friday, March 8, 2024, in the Eastern Carolina State Veterans Cemetery. At other times the family will be at the home of his son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Crystal Scrufari, 103 Sanders Place, Goldsboro.

Tony is survived by his wife, Elaine Wells Scrufari; sons, Anthony Scrufari and wife, Kati of Goldsboro and Michael Scrufari and wife, Crystal of Goldsboro; grandchildren, Cody Scrufari and wife, Tatum and Collin Scrufari and fiancée, Bre; and great-grandchildren, Adelina, Elora, Armani, and Jaylin.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in Tony’s memory to the Disabled American Veterans of Goldsboro or the charity of one’s choice.
