Crews Respond to Fire Early Thursday Morning Behind Old Carver School

MOUNT OLIVE — Shortly before 4 a.m. on Thursday firefighters from Mount Olive, Dudley, and Calypso and Wayne County EMS station 9 were dispatched to a working structure fire in the 200 block of South Breazeale Avenue behind the old Carver School. 

Mount Olive police reported to dispatch that it was a working fire at that time. As the fire units arrived they found heavy smoke and the building was fully engulfed in flames.

The old kitchen section of the cafeteria was totally destroyed by the fire.

Shortly after arriving on the scene Mount Olive Fire Chief, Greg Wiggins requested for two more fire departments, Smith Chapel and Oak Wolfe to respond to the scene.

Fire Officials on the scene requested a representative from the Office of Emergency Services to respond to the scene to assist in the investigation.
