Firefighters from New Hope and El-Roy were dispatched to a working structure fire on Wednesday morning behind a residence on Parkstown Road near Race Track Road.
As firefighters arrived on the scene they found heavy smoke and fire in a barn behind the residence. The quick action of firefighters managed to keep the fire from spreading to other nearby structures.
Fire Officials on the scene believed the cause of the fire was an electrical short. Wayne County EMS personnel were on standby at the scene.
