Norwood Wayne Cooper, 71, passed away at Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington on Tuesday, February 20, 2024. Born in Wilson County on February 1, 1953, he was the son of the late Elmer “Pete” Cooper and Elsie Marjorie Cooper.

Norwood is survived by his wife, Linda Williams; son, Andrew Cooper; and sisters, Judy Lee Wilkins and Kathy Cooper.

Norwood served his country in the United States Air Force. Norwood had a keen and deep appreciation for the opportunities that the Air Force provided. Norwood worked as a mechanical engineer for many years. Following his retirement, Norwood could be seen on the golf course or by the water with a fishing pole in hand.

Nothing brought more joy to Norwood’s life than spending time with his family. He loved being able to cook and enjoy their company. His love for them knew no bounds and each moment spent with his family was a memory that he cherished forever.

A graveside service to celebrate Norwood’s life will be held on Friday, February 23, 2024, at 11 a.m. at Kenly Cemetery with Pastor Aubrey Williamson presiding. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
