Ellen Carol Hinnant Herring, 76, passed away on Sunday, February 18, 2024, at her home surrounded by family. Ellen was born in Johnston County to the late David Harvey Hinnant and Carrie Irene Jones Hinnant on July 23, 1947. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Larry C. Herring.

Spending time with family was Ellen’s greatest pleasure. To relax, Ellen found her way to the ocean. This was her happy place. The great outdoors seemed to cure whatever was bothering her. It was even better if she could share the experience with those she loved.

Ellen was a wonderful wife, mama, G-Ma and GG-Ma. She will always be loved by her family and will be greatly missed by those who knew her.

A private gathering for the family will be held at Seymour Funeral Home on Saturday, February 24, 2024.

Ellen is survived by her children, Kimberly Renee Herring of Mount Olive and Mark C. Herring of Seven Springs; grandchildren, Mandy Licona and husband, Manuel, Monica Fuentes and husband, Erick, and Sierra Herring; and great-grandchildren, Christian Licona, Sabrina Licona, Erica Fuentes and Emily Fuentes. She is also survived by two dear friends, Marty Barwick and Jacob Napier.
