Paul Julian Carver, 89, passed away peacefully to his Heavenly home on February 13, 2024, with his loved ones by his side. Born on January 18, 1935, in Wilson County, he was the son of the late Jesse C. Carver and Cussie Mae Boyette Carver.
Paul is survived by his daughter, Ann Wofford (husband, Jim); his son, Tim Carver (wife, Miriam). Grandchildren: Jonathan Wofford (wife, Kristen), Garrett Wofford (wife, Andrea), Laura Nixon (husband, Joe), Sarah Boota (husband, Aaron), Emily Suit (husband, Parker). Great-grandchildren: Eli, Katie, Liza, Mason, and Kori Wofford; Lily, Cooper, and Brooks Nixon, and Levi Boota. Also, there are several nieces and nephews, all of whom loved “Papa” affectionately and were greatly loved by Papa.
In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Hilda Grey Scott Carver; his brother, Jesse C. Carver, Jr.; sisters, Lessie Coleman, Clyde Johnson, and Doris Whitley.
Paul was a lover of music, especially Gospel quartet music. He sang in a Gospel quartet known as The Templemen / One Accord for decades. His professional career encompassed roles at Thurston Motor Lines, Exide Corporation, US Supply Company, Kaiser Permanente, and his own accounting business. He also served Temple Baptist Church in various roles including Temple Day School’s accountant, and Deacon. Many individuals and small businesses relied on him for assistance with income tax preparation and bookkeeping. He was also the family photographer and a huge fan of the beach where annual, all-inclusive family vacations were always enjoyed.
The family will receive friends on February 24th, 2024, from 10:30 am until 12:00 pm in the Family Life Center at Temple Baptist Church, 1417 Clifton St, Raleigh, NC. A celebration of life service will follow in the church sanctuary at 12:00pm to celebrate Paul’s life. There will be a private burial service in Kenly, NC.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be directed to Temple Baptist Church or to an organization of your choice.
