Mattie Katherine “Kathy” Stocks, 79, passed away on Saturday, February 17, 2024. Kathy was born in Lenoir County on January 10, 1945, to the late Clem and Doris Moore Jenkins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, McArthur “Mack” Stocks, Sr.; brother, William Franklin Jenkins; and sisters, Wanda Jenkins and Doris Dell Grady.

A woman of deep faith, Kathy spent much time immersed in the scriptures. Her love for the Lord was paramount in her life, and she trusted God’s Word to lead her daily.

Time spent outdoors was precious for Kathy. She took up any offer to go fishing, and her preferred destination away from home was the North Carolina Mountains. At home, you could often see her working in her flowers. Her hydrangeas were filled with huge, blue blooms and her gardenias were a favorite with their beautiful flowers and sweet aroma.

With great love for her family, Kathy devoted her life to their care and well-being. She loved each one in their own unique way, but her grandchildren were by far her most prized possession. From gathering her family around the table for a delicious home-cooked meal to offering her advice and opinions with stern and sure confidence, she did everything in love.

A memorial service to celebrate and remember Kathy’s life will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, February 23, 2024, at Rouse Funeral Home with Pastor Gene Miller officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.

Kathy is survived by her children, David Stocks and wife, Tonya, and Mike Stocks and wife, Georgia; grandson, Blake Stocks and wife, Pam; granddaughters, Kelsie Stocks, and Kaylee Stocks; great-granddaughter, Maddie Stocks; along with several nieces and nephews.
