MOUNT OLIVE — Late Friday afternoon firefighters from Mount Olive, Dudley, and Smith Chapel were dispatched to a structure fire in the 300 block of West James Street in Mount Olive.
Several Mount Olive Police officers along with Wayne County EMS station 9 were the first to arrive on the scene.
Light smoke could be seen coming from the chimney outside, while the dense smoke was starting to fill the upstairs section of the home. The swift action of firefighters quickly found the source of the fire andput it out. The upstairs windows were open up to ventilate the smoke.
