Suspect Arrested in October Homicide

On Oct. 21 at approximately 12:35 a.m., officers with the Goldsboro Police Department responded to the 900 block of S. Best St. for a report of a shooting.

When Officers arrived, they found Ahmad Rashad Hooker, 34, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Hooker was pronounced deceased on the scene. The Goldsboro Police Department’s Investigative Services Bureau was contacted and initiated an investigation. Deputies with the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office assisted with scene security.

During the course of this investigation, a suspect was developed. Warrants for arrest were secured on Trevis S. Kinsey, 34, in relation to the homicide. On Friday, Kinsey was arrested by the U.S. Marshals Service in the 1200 block of Franklin Street without incident. Kinsey was taken before a magistrate and subsequently to the Wayne County Detention Center where he is being held without bond.

Additionally, Kinsey had several outstanding orders for arrest and two probation warrants. He was also arrested for:

  • Order for arrest – Driving while license revoked
  • Order for arrest – Expired Registration
  • Order for arrest – DWI
  • Order for arrest – Civil Revocation
  • Order for arrest – Misdemeanor Probation Violation x 2
