Friday Afternoon Wreck Results in Injuries

On Friday afternoon at the intersection of Crow’s Foot Road and Old Grantham School Road, two passenger vehicles collided with both vehicles ending up off the roadway. Firefighters from Grantham and Smith Chapel were dispatched to the scene along with EMS units from stations 8 and 9to a traffic accident with a possible pin-in.

When firefighters and EMS workers arrived on the scene they found three passengers who were injured in the crash two of them were taken to UNC Wayne Health. The third passenger was taken to a medivac loading zone set up at the Smith Chapel Fire Department where the passenger was flown out to a different medical facility. All three of these passengers were in the white sedan.

The occupants of the second vehicle, a silver minivan jumped and ran from the scene. Firefighters set up a safe traffic control through the scene. The accident is under investigation bythe North Carolina Highway Patrol. Several Wayne County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the scene to assist in the crash.
