January 21, 2024, 77, Princeton —

Stephen Ray Lucas, Sr., 77, passed away in Wilson at Harmony Park Nursing Care on Sunday, January 21, 2024.  He was born in Wayne County on January 27, 1946, to the late Preston Jessie Lucas and Swannie Stroud Lucas.  In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a daughter, Bonnie Sue Lucas; and a brother, Lynnwood Lucas.

Stephen is survived by his wife, Betty Jean Taylor Lucas; sons, Stephen Ray Lucas, Jr. and Taylor Dale Lucas both of Lucama; sisters, Faye House and Betty Baker; 1 granddaughter; and 8 great-grandchildren.

The Funeral Service will be conducted 12:00 pm on Friday, January 26, 2024, in the Casey Funeral Home & Cremations Chapel with the Reverend Donald Massey officiating.  The family will receive friends from 11:00 am until 12:00 pm at Casey Funeral Home & Cremations.  A private burial will be held at Upper Black Creek Church Cemetery.
