Mimble Alberta Stanley Osborne, 94, passed away on Sunday, January 21, 2024, at Brookdale on Country Day Road. Born in Washington County, Virginia on July 2, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Jacob Lawson Stanley and Lilly Rosaetta Denny. In addition to her parents, Mimble was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Osborne, Sr.; brothers, Roy Stanley, Paul Stanley, Tommy Jack Stanley, and Coy Stanley; sisters, Della Woodard, Ella Nelson, and Velma Keith.

Mimble is survived by her children, Melba Hutchinson and husband, Ed, Robert Osborne, Jr. and wife Susan, and Sheila Peters and husband, Terrance; five grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren. Mimble is also survived by her sisters, Mary Hayes, and Jettie Belle Blevans, as well as many nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.

Mimble was a proud military spouse. No matter the assignment, she was always right next to her husband. Upon his retirement from the Air Force, Mimble and Robert settled down in Goldsboro. There, she became a member of Adamsville Baptist Church. For over 50 years, Mimble has assisted as a nursery worker. Being so good with small children, Mimble opened up her home and ran a daycare for many children. Mimble left a lasting impact on each and every child that she helped watch over.

Mimble will always be remembered as a friend to all. She never met a stranger no matter where she went. Her greatest joy in life was that of her family. Her love for her family knew no bounds and each moment spent together with them would become a memory she would cherish forever. She loved to pick up the phone and talk to all of her family. Mimble will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

A graveside service to celebrate Mimble’s life will be held on Thursday, January 25, 2024, at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery at 10 a.m. with Pastor Bill Rose presiding. The family will receive friends at the funeral home the evening prior on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m.
