Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Holds Human Trafficking Awareness Event

The Goldsboro Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority recently organized an interactive human trafficking awareness event, held at the Wayne County Public Library on National Human Trafficking Awareness Day.

The inclusion of a book discussion, featuring the best-selling author and attorney Pamela Samuels Young, and presentations on the dangers of social media added depth to the event. The discussion highlighted the various aspects of human trafficking, including sex trafficking, which is a prevalent issue in the nation.

Delta Sigma Theta collaborated with local entities such as the Goldsboro Police Department represented by Officer Michelle Crawley, Damsel in Defense, and Pastor Robby Millard, demonstrating a united effort to combat human trafficking.

Pastor Terry Jones from the City Church prayed a powerful prayer of coverage for the Goldsboro community and an end to human trafficking.

The statistics highlighting where North Carolina ranks in terms of human trafficking nationwide and the commitment of the chapter to become part of the solution are significant steps toward recognizing and preventing this crime.
