January 16, 2024, 66, Mount Olive —
Patricia Peterson Sexton, 66, native of Clinton and long-time resident of Mount Olive, went to her heavenly home Tuesday, January 16, 2024, while being cared for at Wayne UNC Hospital.
Patricia was a member of the Calypso Presbyterian Church where she had been a choir member, and was active in Sunday school, and many other programs at the church. Her last residence was in the Woodridge apartments in Mount Olive before placement in Genesis Nursing Home where she had been for the last few years.
Patricia had a servant’s heart and was always willing to share with others, what she had. She had provided local transportation to many needing rides to doctor’s appointments, grocery shopping, or other necessary obligations. Patricia was a simple person who never required much. Just friendly conversations and the exchanging of smiles were often enough.
A service to remember Patricia will be Sunday, January 21, at 3 p.m. at Tyndall Funeral Home. Her pastor, the Rev. Nick Nielsen will officiate. Burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery in Mount Olive. There will be visitation at the funeral home during the hour before the service.
Patricia is survived by her son, Jasper Lee Sexton, Jr., who is known as simply Lee Sexton, of Mount Olive; her mother, Lizzie Butler Peterson of Clinton; her sister, Gloria Peterson of Clinton; an uncle and aunt, Frank and Dorothy Butler of the Clinton area; several cousins to include Roger and Juanita Peterson of the Clinton area, and Lucille and Abe Matthis of Morganton; her beloved family at Calypso Presbyterian; and many friends in the Mount Olive, Calypso, and Clinton areas to whom Patricia meant so much.
She joins her husband, Jasper L. Sexton; and her father, Haywood C. Peterson, in death.
And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these, my brethren, ye have done it unto me.
Matthew 25:40, KJV
While Patricia was certainly a giver and not a taker, God the Almighty will bless all those who did give unto her. She was ever thankful for all kindnesses shown to her and Lee. She will be missed. May she sweetly rest!
