Deacon Thomas Uzzell Sr., 77, completed his earthly assignment and transitioned from labor to reward, on Wednesday, January 10, 2024, at home surrounded by his loved ones. The Celebration of his Life will be held on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, at 12:00 pm with a viewing from 11:00 am to 11:50 am at Goldsboro-Raleigh District Assembly (GRDA), 211 West Hooks River Road, Goldsboro, NC. There will be a visitation on Monday, January 15, 2024, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at J.B. Rhodes Funeral Home & Cremations, 1701 Wayne Memorial Drive, Goldsboro, NC. He will be laid to rest at the Eastern Carolina State Veterans Cemetery on Monday, January 22, 2024, at 12:00 pm.

Deacon Thomas was born November 18, 1946, in Wayne County to Mr. James Uzzell and Mrs. Alberta Worrells Uzzell. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Deborah Jones Uzzell; two sons: Travis Uzzell of the home and Thomas Uzzell Jr. of Jacksonville, FL.; one daughter-in-law, Shannon Uzzell; three grandchildren: Zaria, Jarred, and Thomas III; one great-grandson, Trenton; sisters: Lillie and Bettie; brother, Jimmy: sister-in-law, Dorothy and a very special niece, Bridgette.
