January 5, 2024, 75, Seven Springs —
Linwood R. Price, 75, of the Liddell community, Seven Springs, was received unto the Lord on Friday, January 5, 2024, as he was being loved and cared for at home.
Mr. Price graduated from Southern Wayne High School in 1967, and soon after, he enlisted in the United States Army where he served in Korea. After his military discharge, he enlisted with the North Carolina National Guard with a specialty in military police, retiring with an E-8 ranking.
His early employment was with Seven Springs Supply Company. With knowledge of being a welder, having completed the welding program at Lenoir Community College, Mr. Price gained employment with Scott & Jones, Inc. in Calypso where he was a welder, fabricator, and crane operator. He then operated heavy equipment with Pearson Pump Sales in Goldsboro, and it was from there that he retired.- His retirement years were spent “tinkering” as he called it, utilizing his carpentry skills to make furniture, being a “go-to” man to assist his farming neighbors with equipment repairs, and even creating toy farming equipment for his young son, now a man, and his grandkids.
Having been raised in the home of his grandparents, Ike and Celia Price, going to Zion Methodist Church with them and their families was a life-long commitment. `His Christian nurturing led him to be a wonderful Sunday school teacher. Mr. Price was also a very community-oriented individual. He was a member of the Seven Springs Fire Department and served diligently with the Seven Springs Area Rescue Squad.
The Price family will have visitation at Tyndall Funeral Home on Sunday, January 7, from 5 until 7 p.m., and at other times, friends and family are welcome to the residence. Funeral services will be held Monday, January 8, at 2 p.m. at Zion Methodist Church at Pricetown, followed by burial in Pineview Cemetery. Memorial gifts are encouraged to be made to Zion Church Building Fund, c/o Larry Shivar, 343 Billy Price Road, Seven Springs, NC 28578.
