Christopher Earl “Chris” Wade, 64, passed away on Thursday, December 28, 2023. Chris was born in Lenoir County to the late Elwood and Peggy Fields Wade on August 2, 1959. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Delores Wade Jernigan and Elwood “Skip” Wade, Jr.

A love of farming was instilled in Chris from his earliest days. He was destined to be a farmer, and his life’s work was as much a joy as it was labor. When Chris got away from the farm, you could be assured he was either hunting or fishing. Though he loved both, fishing was his ultimate pastime.

Always involved with his family, Chris made sure to attend every game possible when his grandchildren were playing. Sunday afternoons were reserved for time with Angie, as the two enjoyed listening to beach music every Sunday they were home.

For Chris, the cell phone was perhaps the greatest invention of all time. Always wanting to keep in contact with friends and family, he’d call often to catch up on where they were, what they were doing, and how things were going. His care and concern for each was evident in his persistent contact with them.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, January 14, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. at Rouse Funeral Home.

Chris is survived by his wife, Angie Wade; sons, Ryan Wade and Hunter Wade; grandchildren, Rylan Wade and Addison Wade; sister-in-law, Mauricia Wade; brother-in-law, Pat Barfield and wife, Carol; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
