December 27, 2023, 62, Goldsboro —

Samuel Oates, 62, of 320 E. Pollock St., died Thursday at his residence. 

He is preceded in death by his father, Willie J. Oates; his brother Tyrone Frederick; and his sisters, Faye Oates and Ruby Bush.

Joyous and loving memories will be held by his surviving family: his wife, Bonita Oates; his son, Yuri Senior; his mother, Alice Frederick Parks; his sisters, Teen Oats and Sandra Wheeler; his brothers, Willie (Joy) Oates, Earl Oates (Kesha), Jonah Oates and John (Sandra) Oates; his grandchildren, Storm, Ellie, Yuri Junior, Aaron and other extended family; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

When he wasn’t busy building or fixing something, he enjoyed watching drag racing, playing cards, or watching his favorite football team, the Steelers.
