Georgie Barwick Teachey

Georgie Barwick Teachey

December 14, 2023, 89, LaGrange/Seven Springs —

Georgie Barwick Teachey, 89, of LaGrange and Seven Springs, departed this life for life eternal with her Lord on Thursday, December 14, 2023. Georgie was born in Wayne County to the late George Daniel Barwick and Bessie Walker Barwick on September 19, 1934. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald G. Teachey; granddaughter, Naomi Lagunas; brother, Robert Southerland; and sisters, Margaret Coor and Bobbie Swinson.

Graduating from Seven Springs High School, Georgie went on to attend Campbell University and was then employed for 27 years with Wayne Memorial Hospital, retiring as a supervisor with Central Services. In hours outside of her work schedule, time was spent on the farm helping her husband tend to the day-to-day needs of farm life. At the hospital and around home, Georgie was a constant, knowledgeable, and dependable fixture that ensured all went smoothly.

With the gift of penning beautiful words that fit just right for each need, Georgie sent many cards of congratulations, encouragement, and sympathy. Her gift was God-given, and with that, she created a ministry that saw many people through some of their darkest days. Her sweet and gentle spirit was displayed through each word penned.

Those who were blessed to receive baked goods from Georgie’s kitchen could tell you that her pound cakes and chew bread were beyond superb. Always willing to share with others, there is no telling how many pans of chew bread and pound cakes came out of her oven over the years.

For Georgie, there was no greater gift than that of her family. She loved each one dearly and had her heart set on caring for and loving on each one of them. Any time spent with them was like Heaven on Earth for Georgie, and the love she had for them was reflected back in the love they equally expressed for her.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, December 18, 2023, at 3:00 p.m. in the Grady Family Cemetery with Rev. Ashley Summerlin and Rev. Adam Brinkley officiating. The family will greet friends following the service at the cemetery and other times at the home of Bessie and Glenn Graham, 401 Garris Chapel Road, LaGrange, NC 28551.
