On December 9th, 2023; members of Wayne County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division, Shift C, responded to an area check for suspicious individuals walking around vehicles.

Patrol units responded to the area of Eagles Point subdivision located off Highway 581 South, the northern portion of Wayne County. Patrol units quickly secured the adjoining areas to box in the suspects due to the recent vehicle breaking and entering.

During the arrival of responding units, suspects were observed in an unsecured vehicle and fled as deputies attempted to make contact. Suspects fled in different directions but were eventually apprehended and identified. During the initial investigation, it was discovered that the three juvenile suspects were related.

The initial sweep of the incident locality revealed property found roadside in the area where two of the three juveniles were located. All three juveniles were turned over to Wayne County Sheriff’s Office Investigations and Juvenile Services for the next investigation stage. Juvenile suspects were later released to the juveniles’ guardians.

The investigation into this incident is still ongoing with juvenile petitions forthcoming.
