MOUNT OLIVE – In the final preparation before the Midwest Classic, the University of Mount Olive men’s wrestling program claimed a 36-18 victory over Greensboro in a dual meet competition on Dec. 10 in Kornegay Arena.

Mount Olive earned consecutive forfeits to begin the contest at the 125 and 133-weight classes to take an early 12-0 edge. Greensboro responded with a first-period pin at 141 to cut into the deficit before the Trojans received another forfeit in the 149-weight class to build an 18-6 advantage.

The Pride countered with a 10-8 decision at 157 before redshirt junior Colby Teague (165) registered a win via fall over Nicholas Menjivar. In the 174-weight class, redshirt sophomore Seth Thomas delivered a first-period pin versus Deven Ashley, but Greensboro received a forfeit at 184 to close the gap to 30-15 with two matches remaining.

Redshirt freshman Devon Bell (197) made his season debut and posted a fall in the opening period against Khalil Beck to stretch the lead to 36-15. At heavyweight, the Pride recorded a 4-2 decision in the final match, as the Trojans secured a 36-18 win.
