Sharon Wade Kornegay was born April 10, 1958, in Goldsboro, North Carolina to the late Larry Wade, Sr. and Gloria White-Wade. She entered eternal rest on Saturday, December 2, 2023, at Wayne UNC Health. Sharon was educated at Goldsboro High School. Later in life, she attended Wayne Community College and graduated with an Associate’s Degree in Business.
Homegoing service will be held Saturday, December 9, 2023 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro. Burial will follow at Golden Gate Cemetery in Pikeville. Viewing will be held prior to the service from 1 to 1:45 p.m. at the funeral home.
Sharon grew up attending Elm Grove Church in Pikeville, North Carolina. She later became a worshipper of Tehillah Church Ministries in Goldsboro, North Carolina, under the leadership of Archbishop Anthony W. Slater. Sharon was a factory worker at Excel Linde for several years before she became disabled. And in her spare time, she loved shopping at thrift stores and yard sales.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, Larry Wade, Sr. and Gloria White Wade; four sisters, Annie Doris Wade Hines, Diane Wade Lassiter, Shelia Wade, and Joann Wade Greenfield and two brothers, Carl Lee Wade and Larry Wade, Jr.
She leaves to cherish her memories a husband of 34 years, Bruce Kornegay of the home; two daughters, LaToya McKinney of Goldsboro, North Carolina, and Regina McKinney of California; one son, Antwan McKinney of South Carolina; one brother, Jimmy (Doris) Wade of Goldsboro, North Carolina; six grandchildren and a host of other relatives, family, and friends.
