Jesse Franklin Bailey, 76, passed away on Saturday, December 2, 2023, at UNC Health Wayne. Born in Wayne County on April 7, 1947, to the late Clifton and Rhoda Parnell Bailey.
In addition to his parents, Jesse was preceded in death by his brother, Charles; sisters, Peggy B. Langston and Edith B. Ross. Jesse is also preceded in death by his special, furry companion, Scooter.
Jesse is survived by his wife, Barbara Pelt Bailey; sister, Paulette Kornegay and husband, Garry; brother-in-law, Gerald N. Pelt; and numerous nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly. Jesse is also survived
Jesse proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. For many years, Jesse owned and operated Bailey Accounting in Goldsboro. Jesse was a member of the Goldsboro Friends Meeting. He was also a member of the Goldsboro Downtown Lions Club.
A service to celebrate Jesse’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 7, 2023, in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home with Pastor Hayden Amodeo officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. in the hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment with military honors will be held privately for the immediate family at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.
