Minnie Mitchell Williford

November 28, 2023, 96, Goldsboro —

Minnie Mitchell Williford, 96, peacefully departed this life and joyously entered her eternal reward on Tuesday, November 28, 2023. She was born in Wayne County to the late Andrew E. Mitchell and Winniefred Mitchell Proctor on September 4, 1927. In addition to her parents, Minnie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Otis Albert Williford, four of her boys, Raymond, Wray, Keith, and Stewart; brothers, Andrew, Grover, Norwood, and Delmus; and sister, Nancy Heath.

Minnie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. She was a well-known and loved member of the community and a dedicated member of The Bridge of Princeton. Minnie was recognized as the oldest member of the church at her death.

Minnie was a loyal employee of Excell-Linde for over 10 years. Otis and Minnie also served as the custodians of Whitley Church and she continued to clean at The Bridge for many more years after his death. Working in her home and yard was Minnie’s means of relaxing. She took pride in the appearance and presentation of her home.

Minnie’s world revolved around her family. From Christmas gatherings to family reunions, Minnie looked forward to times when she could be surrounded by her loved ones. Her family enjoyed times shared with Minnie, especially when her homemade cheese biscuits were expected to be on the table.

With a sweet spirit and outgoing personality, Minnie never met a stranger. Wherever she went, she was sure to leave with a new friend. It was impossible not to love her kind smile and welcoming presence. She loved unconditionally and was truly loved by all in return. Minnie will be terribly missed by her family, friends, church, and community.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 2, 2023, from 4:00 -5:00 p.m. at The Bridge of Princeton followed by a service to celebrate Minnie’s life at 5:00 p.m. in the sanctuary with Pastor Andy Stovall and Pastor Luke Davis officiating. Interment will be on Sunday, December 3, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.

Minnie is survived by her three children, Frank Williford and wife, Emma, Joan Daly and husband, Emory and Evelyn Hill; daughters-in-law, Jane Williford and Lavee Williford; eleven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her special friends, Betty Richardson, Jean Gurley, and JoAnn Aycock.
