Betty Jean Beck, the widow of Franklin Murray Beck, passed away on Sunday, November 19, 2023, at the home of her daughter in Mt. Olive, NC.

Born in Rockingham, NC, she was the loving daughter of the late Kenneth and Myrtle Bennett. Betty graduated from Rockingham High School where she and Franklin met and became high school sweethearts. They were subsequently married for 58 years.

Betty, along with her husband, loved and enjoyed beach music and dancing, known as “shagging.” Both were lifetime members of SOS (Society of Shaggers) and attended many SOS weekends in North Myrtle Beach. She cherished spending time with her family shopping with her daughters and granddaughters. Betty retired from Cooper Standard in 1996.

Betty is survived by her two daughters, Roxann Herring (Squinkie) and Kellie Honeycutt (William), and her son, Chris Beck. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, Chelsy Brown (Tyler), Katie Herring, Luke Herring, Rachel Herring, Will Honeycutt, Courtney Honeycutt, August Beck, Noble Beck, and Asher Beck; and two great-grandchildren, Alexandria Brown and Scarlett Brown.

A memorial service for Betty and Franklin will be held on Saturday, December 16, 2023, at 11 a.m. at Cordova Baptist Church in Rockingham, NC. Betty and Franklin’s final resting place will be in their hometown of Rockingham.
