Mary Ann Howell Metz, 84, passed away at the Carrolton of Dunn on Wednesday, November 8, 2023. Born in Wayne County on January 1, 1939, she was the daughter of the late James Howell and Lois Tilton Howell.

After growing up in Goldsboro, Mary Ann and her family moved to Falcon, NC. For many years, she was the cafeteria manager at the Falcon Children’s Home. Working there, she was able to bless the hearts and stomachs of many children in need. After her time at Falcon, she spent time working at Charles Parrish Nursing Home in Dunn.

A service to celebrate Mary Ann’s life will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2023, at 11 a.m. at Wayne Memorial Park. The family will receive friends following the service.

Mary Ann is survived by her daughters, Julia Metz Farnung and husband, Chris, and Kathy Metz Thompson; son, Kerry Metz and wife, Lisa; and grandchildren, Katie Farnung, Libby Farnung, Crystal Thompson, Amber Thompson, Sapphire Thompson, Bradford Thompson, and Coleman Metz.

In addition to her parents, Mary Ann is preceded in death by her son, Kevin Metz.
