Rhoda Iona Parnell Bailey, 328 Gurley Dairy Road, passed away on Wednesday morning with her family by her side. She lived with her loving daughter Paulette Kornegay for 8 years. Most recently she lived with and was loved and cared for by her granddaughter Lisa Doudney and husband David.

A Viewing will be held Sunday at 1:00 pm at Evergreen Funeral Home, Cemetery and Cremation, 3888 US Hwy 70 West, Goldsboro. A Graveside service in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery will be held at 2:00 pm following the viewing. The family will greet friends after service at her home at 328 Gurley Dairy Road, Pikeville, NC 27863. The Rev. Hayden Amodeo will officiate.

Surviving is her son, Jesse Franklin Bailey, and wife Barbara of Pikeville. Her daughter, Paulette Bailey Kornegay, and husband Garry of Seven Springs. 9 Grandchildren, 19 Great-grandchildren, 23 Great-great-grandchildren, and a sister, Gloria Talton of Princeton.

Mrs. Bailey was born a native of Johnston County to the late Ellen Bell Davis Parnell and Doctor Franklin Parnell. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by a husband Clifton Bailey, a son Charles Edward Bailey, her daughters Edith Bailey Ross and husband Alfred, Peggy Bailey Langston, and husband Sammy, her siblings Thurman Parnell, Annabelle Phillips, Mary Bell Shallington, Martha Price, Gladys Summerlin, and half-siblings, William “Buddy” Bennett Parnell and Viola Mitchell.
