James Earl Keech

James Earl Keech

November 1, 2023, 89, Goldsboro —

James Earl Keech, 89, peacefully went to a better eternal home surrounded by his family on Wednesday, November 1, 2023. James was born in Grimesland, North Carolina to the late Edgar and Bertie Lee Keech on August 27, 1934. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Virginia, Faye, Buck, Patricia, Jim, and Douglas.

A proud patriot, James served four years in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. His love and loyalty for his country continued as he later served in and retired from the North Carolina Army National Guard.

With a work ethic second to none, James retired from the State of North Carolina after 20 years of service with both Wayne Correctional Center and retiring from Pitt Correctional Center. His hands were never idle outside of employment, as he was an accomplished carpenter as well. Possessing exceptional skill and talent, James was sought after and known for his excellence in woodworking.

Nothing brought as much satisfaction to James as the tug of a fish on a line or tending his lawn. The yard was kept in pristine condition and always looking its best. For James, treasured above all was the time he spent with his children and grandchildren. Nothing could replace the memories made with his family.

James rededicated his life on September 4, 2022, to water baptism as a profession of his faith and symbolism of his life with Christ while worshiping at Goldsboro Worship Center with his family. They find comfort in knowing he is at rest with his Savior.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 5, 2023, from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home followed by a service to celebrate James’ life at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel with Pastor Danny Johnson officiating. Interment with military honors will be in Wayne Memorial Park.

James is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Ava Jean Keech Tyndall and husband, Roger Adrian Tyndall of Pikeville and Belinda Faye Keech Favazza and husband, Rick of Chicago, IL; grandchildren, Marianna Elmore (Chance), Cameron Baum, Wesley Tyndall, Hunter Tyndall (Morgan), Richard A. Felts; great-grandchildren, Kein, Serena, Reya, Ethan, Matthew, Emily, Adaline and Hayley; and several nieces and nephews he loved very much.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in his memory to
