WCC to Hold Veterans Day Celebration

Wayne Community College will hold a ceremony to honor United States military veterans on Nov. 9.The event will begin at 10 a.m. in Moffatt Auditorium in the Wayne Learning Center (the building with the flag poles in front) on WCC’s main campus in Goldsboro. Retired First Sergeant Lem Gray, Jr. will speak about the value of education in the military.Gray served in the United States Army for 20 years and currently serves as Goldsboro High School’s Army Junior Reserves Officer Training Corps (JROTC) instructor.He also founded Bootstrap Empowerment Solutions, a nonprofit focusing on providing skilled trade and workforce scholarships for Goldsboro High School’s JROTC cadets and Wayne County residents.If weather permits, attendees are invited to visit the Veterans of All Wars Memorial on the north side of the campus on Wayne Memorial Drive following the event.The event is free and open to the public.WCC encourages persons with disabilities to participate in its programs and activities.
