October 26, 2023, 76, Princeton —

Betty Jane Dykstra Cihos, 76, passed away on Thursday, October 26, 2023, at her daughter’s home in Selma.  She was born in Muskegon County, Michigan on August 24, 1947, to the late Nicholas Herman Dykstra and Lucille Elizabeth Davis Dykstra.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Dykstra.

Betty’s many loves were traveling, especially to Maine, New Orleans, Aruba, Caribbeans, Vegas, Jamaica, Bermuda, Key West, Disney World, and Tennessee.  She also loved her grandchildren dearly and so enjoyed spending time with them and her family.

She is survived by her husband, Theodore James Cihos; son, Randy Bullen and wife, Tami of Marne, Michigan; daughter, Kristy Pilkington and husband, Andy of Selma; grandchildren, Krisan Pilkington (Bridget) and Justin Pilkington (Alyssa); sister, Linda Compton of Muskegon, Michigan; as well as her furry feline companion, Cubbie and canine companion, Max.

The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 1, 2023, at 7:00 pm in the chapel of Casey Funeral Home and Cremations with the Reverend James Cole officiating.  The family will receive friends prior to the service from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Casey Funeral Home and Cremations.  The committal will take place on Thursday, November 2, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. in the Pilkington Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that you please consider a donation to the UNC School of Medicine (UNCLINEBERGER.ORG).  The family would like to honor Dr. Lisa Carey, her oncologist, whose specialty in cancer research helped Betty have many extra years of life with her family.
