WaWa Hosting Community Partnership Event in Wilson

WILSON – Wawa, a privately held, family-owned chain of more than 1,000 convenience retail stores currently operating in six states and Washington, D.C., is getting closer to opening stores in the North Carolina market.

To officially kick off the next phase of Wawa’s expansion, the company is hosting double-header Community Partnership events in the communities of Greenville and Wilson on Oct. 25.

The events will share more about Wawa’s unique history and culture, provide an update on expansion plans, and connect the company with new friends, neighbors, VIP customers, local officials, and charity partners.

The event in Wilson is being held at 3 p.m., at Casita Brewing Company, 217 South Street.

“Whenever we enter a new market, we want to get to know our new communities long before we put shovels in the ground,” said Brian Schaller, President of Wawa. “During our Community Partnership events we will provide an update on this phase of our North Carolina expansion and have the chance to meet many of our new friends and neighbors. We are excited to share the Wawa story, plans for growth in this region, and launch our commitment to partnering with and supporting local nonprofit organizations that make a difference in their local communities.”

Those who attend the event in Wilson will have the opportunity to enjoy a “Taste of Wawa,” including several varieties of Wawa’s signature hoagies, Wawa’s award-winning, freshly brewed coffee, and hand-crafted smoothies and refreshers from the Wawa Community Care Vehicle.

WaWa leadership will provide an expansion update, and there will be remarks by state and local officials and charity partners

Also on hand at the event will be displays featuring Wawa’s history, culture, people and community commitment.

There will also be an interactive simulation of the unique Wawa ordering process and the hundreds of food and beverage combinations possible.

An announcement of first grants to support local charity partners and initiatives will be made at the Oct. 25 event. Wally Goose, Wawa’s mascot will be interacting with attendees.
