James Braddock Crumpler, Sr., 88, passed away on Wednesday, October 18, 2023, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center surrounded by his family. Jim was born in Wayne County to the late Herman Crumpler, Sr. and Ruby Jackson Crumpler on June 19, 1935.

Jim owned and operated Crumpler Construction in Goldsboro for many years. He was a member of the Harmony Masonic Lodge in Pikeville. Jim never met a stranger. He could carry on a conversation with anyone and seemed to be able to pull the good out of so many.

A graveside service to celebrate Jim’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 21, 2023, in the Crumpler Family Cemetery with his son, Rev. Brad Crumpler, officiating. The family will greet friends immediately following the service at the cemetery.

Jim is survived by his children, Susan Crumpler (Mark), Tracy Thomas (Mark), Brad Crumpler (Brenda), and Kelly Crumpler (Wendy); eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Herman Crumpler, Jr., and his wife, Gloria.

In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Jean Bryant Crumpler; sister, Barbara Crumpler Frazier; and brother, William Hampton Crumpler.
