October 5, 2023, 51, Kenly —

Rhonda Hicks Durham, 51, of Kenly passed away at Kitty Askins Hospice Center on Thursday, October 5, 2023.  She was born in Johnston County on November 17, 1971, to the late Bobby Carrol Hicks and Larue Stallings Coppel.  In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister, Barbara Hocutt, and nephew, Anthony Staples.

She is survived by her spouse, Donald Cooper; sisters, Donna Hicks of Lucama and Stacey Jackson (Joe) of South Mills, NC; stepdaughter, Amanda Cooper of Kenly and Amy Cooper of Princeton; step-grandchildren, James, Jazmine, Mary, Jaylen and Jeremiah; nieces, Brandi Hicks, Jamie Langston, Courtney Hocutt, Jessica Wilson, Julia Waddell Eason and Alyssia Jackson; nephew, Randy Waddell; and her canine companion Buddy Ray Cooper as well as numerous other nieces and nephews. 

The funeral will be held on Saturday, October 7, 2023, in the chapel of Casey Funeral Home and Cremations at 1:00 p.m. with the Evangelist Joe Jackson officiating.  The family will receive friends prior to the funeral from 12:00 noon until 1:00 pm on Saturday, October 7, 2023, at Casey Funeral Home and Cremations.  At other times, the family will receive friends at 3075 Shoeheel Rd., Kenly, NC  27542
