September 29, 2023, 67, Goldsboro —
Patricia Elaine Deel peacefully transitioned from labor to reward on Friday, September 29, 2023, at UNC Wayne surrounded by her daughter & grandchildren. Born November 3, 1955, in Norfolk Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Clarence Phillip Shatney and Louise Irene Shatney.
In addition to her parents, Patricia was preceded in death by her sister Donna Moore.
Pattie spent much of her life in Charlotte County, Florida, where she was known by friends and family for her incredible voice and spunky demeanor. She starred as a singer in a Country music band, so for many years, most of her days and nights were dedicated to rehearsing and performing. Her passion for music was felt by everyone. She even won many female vocalist and duet awards.
In addition to her incredible singing, she had a gift for cooking. She had a special touch to all her cooking that could never be duplicated, even if the recipe was followed to the letter. A vital memory that her granddaughters will always cherish, is for years she would bake them each a Barbie birthday cake. She put love into every detail and personalized it, especially for them.
Though she did love music, cooking, football, and all things Elvis, nothing meant more to her than her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Most of her life revolved around them. From never leaving her daughter’s side through her leukemia. To teaching her granddaughter how to sing acapella and rehearsing with her for all her talent shows. She sat in the front row at every home football game for her grandson and cheered along in the stands for her granddaughters. The love she had for her family was infinite.
Her love and memory will forever linger in the hearts of her children, Shannon Shatney, Jason Deel, LuEllen Parker (husband, Dameon), and Brenda Bosworth (husband, Patrick); 14 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren (2 more expected to arrive in early 2024); and brother, Michael Shatney.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Services are entrusted to Seymour Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
