Leonard L. ‘Mac’ McNeil of Goldsboro, NC passed away Sept. 7th, 2023.

He was born Mar. 25th, 1940, in the former City of Tobacco, Durham NC, to the late Leonard McNeil & Catherine Rigsbee McNeil.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ann D. McNeil.

He is survived by his sister, Trudy M. Roberts (Earnest) of Durham. Also remaining are 2 nephews: Trent Roberts (Jamie) of Creedmoor, and Seth Roberts (Cristina) of Apex. Also, there are two great nephews and nieces.

Mac made a career in the US Air Force starting in the late 1950s, retiring in 1980. He spent time in Korea, Vietnam & Japan before making Seymour Johnson AFB in Goldsboro his permanent home for him and Ann. After retiring from military service, he found that the US Post Office could use his help, where he worked for another 15 years. Mac and Ann enjoyed numerous dogs, the game of golf, and attending Carolina Hurricanes Hockey games in Raleigh until Ann’s passing. He loved many, and many people loved him.

A graveside service will take place Sept. 11th at 1 p.m., at Maplewood Cemetery at 1621 Duke University Rd. Durham, NC.
