Cecile Floars Hooks

Cecile Floars Hooks

September 4, 2023, 84, Goldsboro —

Cecile Floars Hooks peacefully departed this life and joyously entered her eternal reward on Monday, September 4, 2023. She was born in Wayne County to the late George Isaac Floars and Alva Aycock Floars on March 9, 1939. In addition to her parents, Cecile was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William Oscar Hooks, Jr., brothers, Alstyne Floars, Jimmy Floars, George Floars, Jackie Floars, and Bobby Floars; and sisters, Sylva Rhea Brown and Betsy Honeycutt.

For many years, Cecile was a Licensed Practical Nurse and worked at O’Berry Center, Wayne Memorial Hospital, and as a private duty nurse. She was also called to be a wife and a mother, and she lived out that calling in everything she did. Cecile stood by her husband’s side in all he sought to do. The two of them made an unbeatable team. They raised their two daughters and loved watching them grow and build lives of their own.

Always dressed to the nines, Cecile wouldn’t dare leave the house without looking her best. Nails were always polished, hair was in place, and there was always enough time to reapply lipstick. Even when she was doing what she loved best, shopping, you would find her looking her best.

With a sweet spirit and outgoing personality, Cecile never met a stranger. Wherever she went, she was sure to leave with a new friend. It was impossible not to love her kind smile and welcoming presence. She loved unconditionally and was truly loved by all in return.

Cecile faithfully served her Lord through the ministries of the church. She looked forward to every church service at The First Pentecostal Holiness Church where she could offer praise to the Lord and reconnect with her church family. Cecile lived her life to the fullest. She will be remembered for her zest for life and her eagerness to experience all God had to see.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 9, 2023, from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home followed by a service to celebrate Cecile’s life at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel with Pastor Bill Rose officiating. The interment will be at Elmwood Cemetery in Fremont.

Cecile is survived by her daughters, Elizabeth Hooks McHaffie of Wilson and Fran Hooks Strader and husband, Charles of Wilson; and several nieces and nephews she loved very much.

Services are entrusted to Seymour Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
