Grace Ann Rohde, 84, of LaGrange, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 22, 2023, at home with family by her side. Mrs. Rohde was born on May 31, 1939, in Stevens Point, Wisconsin, to the late Richard and Catherine (Kostuck) Worzalla. Grace was a 1957 graduate of an all-girls Catholic High School in Stevens Point, Wisconsin.

Grace worked for the State of Wisconsin in the Governor’s Office prior to her marriage to Armann Rohde Sr. on June 30, 1962. She was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin—Whitewater, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Education and a Master’s degree in Education with dual concentrations in Math and English. She taught grades 3 through 12, as well as GED classes for high school students.

Grace attended St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Stevens Point, Wisconsin growing up. She later joined and attended Trinity Lutheran Church, Beloit, Wisconsin; Our Redeemer Lutheran in Ocala, Florida; Messiah Lutheran in Valdosta, Georgia; and Faith Lutheran in Kinston, North Carolina.

She was a member of a bowling team for many years. Along with her husband, Armann, Grace played shuffleboard, learned square dancing, played pinochle, and especially enjoyed playing dominoes with their children and grandchildren. She loved to crochet, knit, and make arts and crafts. Later in life she had a huge love for word search puzzles, as vast as her vocabulary was.

Survivors include her sons Armann Rohde Jr. (Christa) of Indio, California; Christopher Rohde (Bonnie) of Daytona Beach, Florida; Charles Rohde (Rogelyn) of Beloit, Wisconsin; her daughter, Melissa Kinast (Frank) of LaGrange, North Carolina; grandchildren Heather Rohde, Gita Kinast, Abigail Cook (Dallas), Emily Kinast, Alex Rohde, and Julianna Arteaga; and great-granddaughter Eliana Cook; also her sister, Joan Mulady.

Grace was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Armann Rohde Sr.; and her brother, Jack Worzalla.

Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, September 3, 2023, at 3:00 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church, 709 W. Vernon Ave., Kinston, NC 28501. Viewing will be at Faith Lutheran Church starting at 2:00 p.m. Grace’s son-in-law, Rev. Frank Kinast, will officiate. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery in LaGrange, NC, following the Funeral Service.
