Douglas Thurman “Doug” Summerlin, 53, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 2, 2023, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center surrounded by his family.

Doug grew up with a passion for chickens, rabbits, and pigeons. Some of his favorite times were those spent watching wrestling on the television or listening to some good country music on the radio. Doug also enjoyed the quiet thrill of going hunting and was a very avid fisherman. He will be remembered as a loving son, brother and grandson. Doug lived his life looking after the women in his family.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 6, 2023, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home. A service to celebrate Doug’s life will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 7, 2023, in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home with Rev. Tony McLamb and Rev. Alan Lamm officiating. The interment will be in Wayne Memorial Park.

Doug is survived by his mother, Brenda Linker of Goldsboro; sister, Karen Linker, and fiancée, Jeremy Alexander of Goldsboro; grandmother, Myrtle Summerlin of Goldsboro; niece, Elizabeth Linker; special caregiver and friend, Samantha Grant; special cousin, Sonny Edgerton; and a host of other cousins he loved very much.

He was preceded in death by his grandpa, Felix Thurman Summerlin, Sr., and uncles, Felix “Bud” Thurman Summerlin, Jr. and James “Jimmy” Douglas Summerlin.
