Larry Young Crowder

Larry Young Crowder

August 26, 2023, 70, Goldsboro —

Larry Young Crowder, 70, was welcomed into the presence of his Lord on Saturday, August 26, 2023. Larry was born in Rock Hill, SC to the late David Young Crowder and Ruby Louise Costner on March 11, 1953.

In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his brother, David Ray Crowder; and sisters, Kathy E. Crowder, Janice M. Crowder, Brenda F. Crowder, and Thersa G. Crowder.

Larry started his drywall career at the age of 11 years old cutting out light boxes. He progressed to having his own hanging crew at the age of 18. At the age of 21, he went into the Air Force where he enjoyed his time serving our country. He was able to visit many countries he would not otherwise have had the opportunity. He completed a 20-year career in the Air Force. He continued his drywall “hobby” as he called it throughout his life. He was very skilled at what he did. He believed that if you were going to do a job, do it right the first time. Larry was very sought after in his field.

Larry has always enjoyed being around people. He always tried to make those he talked to leave feeling they were valued. The Lord and His son, Jesus Christ, have always been close to his heart. He was always an example to his family and friends of what he believed. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew him.

A service to celebrate Larry’s life will be held on Saturday, September 2, 2023, at 11 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Goldsboro. The family will receive friends, one hour prior to the service, from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. at the church. Services will conclude with an interment at Eureka Cemetery.

Larry is survived by his loving wife, Mary Taylor Crowder; children, Laura Ann (Crowder) Bredin and late husband, William, Wallis M.
