Marquis Jah-el Dawson, 29, of Dudley departed this earthly life Sunday, August 13, 2023.

A service to celebrate his life will be held Saturday, August 19, 2023, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10 until 10:45 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be held privately for the family.

Marquis was born in Wayne County on August 5, 1994. He was employed with Airgas of Goldsboro.

He leaves to cherish his memories his mother, Charlene Dawson-Rowe (Ricky Rowe) of Dudley; his father, Marcus Smith of Virginia; one son, Mason Dawson; one daughter, Shyasia Dixon; one sister, Ayanna Dawson (Joshua Barnes); stepsister, Ericka Rowe; two stepbrothers, Ricky Rowe, and Quamaine James; special brothers, Ishmael James, DeVonte Faison, Vontario Hines and Marvin Miller; maternal step-grandfather, Lynwood Bell Jr. and a host of other relatives and close friends.
