August 6, 2023, 73, LaGrange —
June 15, 1950 – August 5, 2023
Robert Floyd Kidder passed away at ECU Health in Greenville NC on Sunday, August 6, 2023. He was born to the late Floyd Spencer Kidder and Marjorie Palmer Kidder in Ohioville, OH. In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine Peddy Kidder, and son, Terry Allen.
Bob served in the United States Air Force, retiring after 22 years as a Master Sargeant. The skills he learned in the military carried over into his career and civilian life. He was always working on something. He could fix nearly everything that was put before him. He could do woodwork and spent his career in mechanical work. Bob was definitely a jack of all trades, but he was a master of one – hydraulics. That was his true gift and he excelled in it. Robert was affectionally known as “Bob the Builder” for his incredible skill.
Bob was a joy to be around and loved to laugh. He lived up to his name, as he was always kidding around and joking. Watching others laugh brought him joy. He took care of others and was simply a loving guy. He was a ‘yes man’ in the sense he was willing to help at any time and in any way he could. He was willing to do whatever it took. His kindness and generosity will definitely be missed.
A Graveside Service of Remembrance will be held with military honors on Friday, August 11, 2023, at 10 am, Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery, Jacksonville, NC.
Bob is survived by his son, Sonny James Kidder, and his wife; daughter Kathie Spalla and her husband; “adopted” son, Joshua Tooley; grandchildren, Stephanie Jones (David), Raven Kidder, Brandyn Kidder (Hannah), Ashlyn Kidder, Jessica Berry and Brad Wineburner; and great-grandchildren, Emily, Henry, Krory, and James.
