The Management and Staff of Williams & Ashford Funeral Directors join with the Griswold and connected families to announce the earthly transition of Ms. Emma Griswold, 87. Ms. Griswold transitioned at the Wayne UNC Health Care, Goldsboro, NC.

Emma Jane Griswold, daughter of the late James and Artensa Lofton Griswold, was born in Wayne County, NC, on July 14, 1936. She was called to her eternal reward on Tuesday, August 1, 2023, at Wayne UNC Health Care, Goldsboro, NC.

She joined Holly Hill Disciples Church at an early age. She graduated from Central High School. She later moved to New York, where she lived and worked for over 50 years as a caregiver to older adults and a laborer at a watch company.

She was preceded in death by her two brothers: James Richard Griswold and Charlie Griswold & 2 sisters: Jean Wallace and Carolyn Anna Griswold.

She leaves to cherish her memories two daughters: Sonja Thompson (Dean) and Toni Griswold; a sister in law Verna Core; 3 granddaughters: Takara Battle (Darnell), Shannon Griswold, and La’Quandra Thompson, all from Goldsboro, NC; 6 great-grandchildren: Jaylan, Niyah, Toot, AJ, Isaiah, & Janyla, one great-great-grandson Janarri all of Goldsboro, NC, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
