Judy Hines Hudson passed away on Tuesday, August 1, 2023, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center. Judy was born to the late James L Hines Jr and Esther Finch Hines. Judy was married to Kenn Hudson for 45 years.
Judy was a fighter. She was a determined, courageous woman who battled breast cancer and won. She also battled pancreatic cancer and fought until she could fight no longer. Judy was strong but had a huge heart for others. Her compassion and care really showed as she walked with others through difficult journeys while also facing her own. Judy didn’t mind saying what was on her mind, which meant you always knew where you stood with her.
Judy worked at Wayne Memorial Hospital as an accountant until her retirement. She was thorough and worked hard at everything she did. Judy and Kenn married in 1978 and formed a bond that would last their lifetime. They stood by each other, no matter the circumstance. Their love for each other was evident in the way they cared for each other.
Once Judy began her cancer journey, she had a saying that most would recognize. She would tell everyone it was time for her to put on her “big girl panties” and deal with it. And if you really knew Judy, you knew how these looked. Her bravery was admired by so many. Judy was and continues to be a gift and we give thanks for her life.
A Service of Remembrance will be held at Garris Chapel Church at 6:00 pm on Friday, August 4, 2023. Family will greet friends immediately following the service. The Committal Service will be held on Saturday, August 5, 2023, at 11:00 am, by the graveside at Holly Grove Church, 3940 Union School Road in Clinton, NC.
Judy is survived by her husband, Kenn Hudson; brother, Jimmy Hines (Sherry); sister-in-law, Linda Pearson (Ronald); and her nieces and nephews, Chris and Tammy Pearson and Steve and Amy Spears. Judy was preceded in death by her parents.
